Meet Our Teachers

Athena Schreur

Athena has studied at the Amadeus School of Music, UNLV and the Longy School of Music at Bard College. She teaches piano, violin, viola, bass and cello.

Andrea Hackbarth

Andrea has a master’s degree in education and has taught locally in both elementary and middle schools and at Mat-Su College.

Forest Wilson

Forest WilsonForest is a UAA music major who’s been teaching for 6 years, starting out at Czar of Guitars in Palmer. He teaches both acoustic and electric styles, as well as banjo, bass, mandolin, dobro and ukulele.

Kalen Tyson

Kalen Tyson
Kalen has a degree in music from Valley Forge Christian College and is experienced as a church music director. She teaches piano and voice.

Jerry Wessling

Matt BrennaJerry is a math teacher at Teeland Middle School and director of the Guitar Club there. He teaches guitar, bass, ukulele and voice in all styles.

Johnnathon Brown

Roger DavidJohnnathon studied music at Cornerstone University and works at Teeland Middle School as a special education assistant. He teaches piano, trumpet, clarinet, saxophone and trombone.

Leon Osborne

Matt Brenna Leon is the worship music leader at Matanuska Assembly of God. He teaches guitar, piano, vocals, bass and violin.

Cealice Kennison

Cealice has a degree in music from Seattle University and performs with the Matanuska Susitna Orchestra. She teaches piano, violin and cello.

Brenna Bellah

Ga-in ChoiBrenna’s piano skills won her a scholarship to Weber State University in Utah, where she performed extensively in both classical and pop styles. She also teaches beginning guitar.

Kit Jones

A retired flight instructor, Kit is now teaching her first love, music. She teaches piano, guitar and ukulele.

Shannon Alarid

Shannon AlaridShannon is pastor of Matanuska Assembly of God. He teaches guitar, bass, drums and piano.

Devynn Maclure

Devynn studied music at Johnson State College in Vermont and is a tutor and counselor for the Cyberlynx home school program. She teaches piano, guitar and voice.

Evan Jackson

Matt Brenna Evan teaches violin, viola and cello. He’s the father of two children and has worked as a teaching assistant with the Anchorage School District.

David McCormick

The owner of Valley School of Music, David has been teaching piano and strings longer than he likes to think about.
